Amdocs Interview Experience - Pune, December 12, 2015

Amdocs is one of the leading Telecom billing product based MNC's in the world.

Interview was for Telecom Billing Experienced professionals with 1-3 years experience.

I got a call from consultancy who had reviewed my profile from Naukri.com to attend Online test of Amdocs.

1] Online Test : Test was held at Amdocs campus. It had 5 sections - SQL,UNIX,Decision Making, Quantitative aptitude and Data Interpretation. Except SQL and UNIX all other sections were very easy. You can score full out of marks there. Even SQL and Unix were easy but some questions were difficult.

Quant Apti - simple questions on time and work, numbers, profit and loss, ages etc.
SQL - If you are good in SQL it's easy. Simple questions on joins, functions, indexes etc.
Unix - It's  a bit tough as most questions were based on commands that we probably don't use that often like tee, sort -u, replace all - 1,$ s/old_string/new_string/g etc.
Data Interpretation and Reasoning - Kid's stuff just be alert when solving. Bar chart problems, translate problems etc.

Asked to leave after test, got call from consultancy to attend F2F interview next week.

2] F2F interview : Before F2F interview we were given hard copy of presentation which was based on different telecom billing and rating chain modules in Amdocs like - Ordering, Pricing, Pricing, Billing, CRM, EPC catalogue etc. There was a page having blocks of these modules connected with arrows. We had to explain how these modules are connected together by writing functionality over the arrows.

Having done that, we were sent to F2F interview. There was a 2-men panel, they asked like Tell me about yourself, family and background etc. Next they asked about my project and asked me to explain Telecom billing chain and the exercise given on presentation. This took almost half an hour or more.

Next they asked about SQL and Unix. In SQL how to delete duplicates in a table like:

Col1         Col2
123          789
789          123

Considering, these are duplicates how we delete them? It can be done by self join. But I couldn't remember it, so I wrote a procedure for that. Then they asked on Unix.
How to find a pattern in a file, said - using grep. How to ignore case - grep -i

How to search a pattern in whole directory told.
grep -i "hello" *.*

Then they asked about chmod. chmod ug=rx meaning and all. Those clearing the interview were asked to wait. After waiting for a while, we had a meeting with a Senior Manager who explained us about our roles and responsibilities and nature of work.

When done he answered some questions, congratulated us and we were asked to leave.

After 2-3 days I got call from HR, had a telephonic HR round, it was lengthy but easy, salary discussion and all was done. In a few days got offer letter from Amdocs.
Looking forward to joining Amdocs on 4th Jan 2016.

Hope this helped !

Manual Testing Interview experience.

I got a call letter from Consultancy for experienced position. Consultancy states that its having test and interview and HR interview on phone later onwards.

So firstly I have to tell how the question paper was.

It mainly contains 5 section for manual testing. Total 95 questions and 1 hr 55 mints given.

1). Quantitative ability:it mostly contains questions on Trains almost 4-5. Given some of question and to find out does it fit into criterion. Some questions are 2 conditions were given and to find out these condition are enough to find out solutions. All other questions are basics you can easily solve that. I suggest mostly focus on train questions. 20questions.

2). Attention to details:one big paragraph was given for reading comprehension and 15 questions were there. It was little bit tough I guess.

3). Software testing concepts:Most of questions were tough and they were totally focusing beyond our thinking. I believe there were most of questions on configuration management system. So study it carefully. 20 Questions.

4). Unix: I think this was toughest section I had ever faced because I am totally new to Unix there were 15 questions. So please study unix thoroughly and give more time on concepts of unix.

BCZ questions were tough.

5). SQL:15 questions mostly on big queries and they also asking questions on database related SQL concepts. Some questions on join also.

I have given test now waiting for result, HR told me that they will give result within working week.

Amdocs Interview Experience - Pune, March 15, 2015

Interview Experience for Manual Testing profile:

Online Aptitude test: Analytical ability+Attention to details+data sufficiency+passage+software testing concepts+unix+SQL.

Total 95 question in 2hr 55min.

Around 180 people appeared for aptitude test at amdocs pune location and only 11 were selected and were called for technical interview next day, I was one among the 11 people.

Interview was schedule on 11am and I reached sharp by 10am. Waited waited and waited. Then they told panel has not yet arrived and will arrive at 1pm. Did some timepass & came back at 1pm again Waited Waited Waited Then my interview finally happened at 4pm. 25min interview I answer all question correctly and last she told me your experience is less (was 1.5 years) and then I realised they are looking for 2.5+ years and the same was told to my friend. Such a slap in the face. Moreover their job profile said 1-4 years allowed. I was so frustrated and was not in a mood to argue with her(the interviewer).

Moral of the story: For AMDOCS never ever come on given time, instead come I hr late. Also do not go if you have less than 2 years of exp.

Amdocs Interview Experience - Pune, March 19, 2014

Hi.

I was shortlisted for the interview round after technical aptitude.

The aptitude was of amcat pattern. Quant, logical, technical n coding section. For coding section we had to choose out of C, C++ and java. I chose C++. It consisted of two programs in which we only had to write the main logic, rest was in-built. Quant, logical and tech. Sections were multiple choice and were each to crack.

I would consider this aptitude as the main filtration process because from my college only 6 students were selected out of 150.

After apti comes the interview. My interview was conducted by two people at a time. They gave me a list of languages that I was supposed to choose from. I chose C++, database and unix.

Questions asked were:

C++.

Real life implementation of OOP concepts.

Any eg. Used in day to day life.

Use of function overriding.

Polymorphism.

Diff. Between function overloading and overriding.

Database.

All types of joins.

Foreign key, candidate key, primary key.

Diff. Between all above.

DML, DCL, DDL.

Diff. Between delete and truncate etc.

However its not compulsory to answer all the questions but at least try in front of them. They like the fact that the student is at least trying. Have thorough knowledge of your project, thats the first question they are going to ask. Your project's working, scope, future use, tools or platform used, everything must be well answered and even if you don't know anything they asked just say something, don't sit silently.

In my case I spoke so much about the project that he was half impressed.

HR rounds were going on simultaneously. The filtration was going on side by side our tech. Interview. Once you clear your tech. Interview, HR is like a cake walk. They asked normal questions like tell me about urself, marks, hobbies, strength and weakness, about the company. They even asked me total revenue of the company. Its better to know about the company in prior.

Overall 70+ students were called for tech. Interview and end of the day approx. 37 were selected. Proud to say I was one of them.

  1. Hello There,

I learnt so much in such little time about Amdocs Interview Experience-1. Even a toddler could become smart reading of your amazing articles.

Here's an unusual but interesting job - write a program, let it run on its own for 3 months and earn $40k, 25k or 15k. It's a competition for programmers – Automated Trading Championship 2012.

How to apply? Write a program (called a trading robot) and send it to the championship. Then it runs for three months, and if it's among the most profitable robots you earn real money. It's challenging, since you can't modify your program during the competition.
Write a program in MQL5 - it's a specialized language. Haven't heard of it? Don't worry - it is a C like language with OOP, its syntax is very similar to C++. It comes with a special editor, debugger, tester and execution module. Also full documentation is available. It's a little harder with the program logic, but with tons of information available you can handle it.
I am so grateful for your blog. Really looking forward to read more.

    Grazie,
    Renina
